Champagne judging on Friday, a huge weekend of tasting for the Independent Wine Monthly, a toothsome Felton Road tasting/lunch yesterday (to be written up shortly) - it is now Tuesday morning and I am feeling rather jaded.
My rather miserable mood has been exacerbated by opening a bottle of Delamotte Blanc de Blanc nv last night which was meant to cheer Emma and I after the arduous IWM tasting session but had rather the opposite effect. Large, rather coarse bubbles, very slight evidence of autolysis and what seemed quite noticeable dosage. Certainly it didn't live up to its reputation. Plus I lashed out $88, reason enough to be dark.
This week sees Emma finalising her MW Dissertation submission and (more importantly) deciding what shoes/clothes to take to California. She leaves on Sunday for San Francisco as she has been chosen to take part in the Napa Valley Vintners Masters programme.
I am attempting to finalise the programme for the 2009 Master of Wine Education Seminar which has moved venue to the Australian Wine Research Institute in Adelaide. And prepare the WSET Diploma students for the Unit 1 and Unit 5 exams, scheduled for the first week in November.
So an alcohol free week for us. We'll be off air for the rest of the week, but normal service will resume at the weekend.
