Pinot Noir : 17th October 2008

I seem to have spent this week going to pinot noir tastings: Wines of Martinborough on Tuesday, a decade of Mt Difficulty on Wednesday and a good look at the 2007 vintage (94 wines) courtesy of the Fine Wine Delivery Company yesterday. I was going to write each up tasting individually but on reflection I think I'll condense my thoughts into one article. Off to Taupo tomorrow to see Emma, taste some new releasesfor the IWM and attend the Scenic Cellars 2005 Bordeaux tasting.  Well, I thought it was 2005 Bordeaux but somehow it appears to be a shootout between 05 Bordeaux and 05 Gimblett Gravels. In light of my comments on aggressive tannins in Hawke's Bay reds, it will be interesting to see how the wines stack up.
