Syrah is the trendy red variety at the moment, and Syrah with a splash of Viognier is just the cat's wh
iskers. Despite the fact Viognier is a white grape, this wine is red through and through; densely garnet with intense wild berry fruit, juicy black plums and delicate white pepper and spice notes. The Viognier adds a floral lift of violets and light citrus blossom, giving a rather exotic character to this delicious Hawke's Bay wine. Medium-bodied with firm but supple tannins; it makes wonderful drinking now but the fine balance and concentration suggest it will cellar well over the next 3-5 years, gaining more complexity with time.
